Turkish dentist FAQ
Short, direct answers to the questions UK patients put to us before booking dental work in Turkey.
Dental work in Turkey can be safe when the clinic is licensed, your dentist is named and registered, and the plan, materials and guarantee are written down before you travel. At our Antalya clinic you get a free written plan in pounds, a 3D scan on your first day and a written guarantee. Flights are never included.

These are the questions we are asked most often by people in the UK thinking about a Turkish dentist. The answers are short on purpose. Where there is more to say, the answer links to a page that says it. If your question is not here, send it to us on WhatsApp or through the contact form. A coordinator will reply, and anything clinical is answered by one of our dentists.

Common questions
Is it safe to see a dentist in Turkey?
It can be, if you check the basics: the clinic's Ministry of Health licence, the name and registration of your dentist, a written plan naming the materials, and a written guarantee. The NHS and the Oral Health Foundation both publish advice for people going abroad for treatment, linked below. Ask us for any of these in writing.
Is your clinic licensed?
Yes. Precious Oral and Dental Health Centre is licensed by the Turkish Ministry of Health and authorised for health tourism. Our dentists are registered with the Turkish Dental Association; Dt. Hüseyin Yavuz Özbek is number 49105.
Do you have a clinic or office in the UK?
No. We have a UK company, Precious Teeth Ltd (Companies House 14018597), but it does not provide treatment. Every examination and treatment takes place at our clinic in Antalya.
How much does dental work in Turkey cost with you?
An implant is £300, a zirconia crown £150, one implant with a crown £450, and All-on-4 £6,000 for both jaws. The full list is on our prices page. The final figure is fixed in writing once you have had the 3D scan.
What is included in the price?
Transfers from the airport and to every appointment, hotel nights (four then five for implants, five for a zirconia crown trip), X-rays as listed on your plan, free extractions, medication and an implant passport for implant patients. Your plan lists exactly what applies to you.
Are flights included?
No, never. You book your own flights to Antalya, which lets you choose the airport and dates.
How long will I be in Turkey?
A crown or veneer trip is usually about a week, with five hotel nights for zirconia crowns. Implants usually need two trips: four nights, then five nights a few months later.
Why do implants need two trips?
An implant must fuse with the jawbone before a permanent tooth is fixed to it, and that takes a few months, which you spend at home. Full-arch patients have fixed temporary teeth in between.
Does it hurt?
Treatment is done under local anaesthetic, so most people feel pressure rather than pain during it. Soreness and some swelling for a few days after surgery are normal and are usually managed with ordinary painkillers. We cannot promise you will feel nothing, but we will stop whenever you need a break.
Can I be sedated?
Yes, for surgery. Sedation is given and monitored by an anaesthetist. You need someone with you afterwards. It is priced in your written plan. See sedation dentistry.
Which implant brands do you use?
MegaGen, Neodent and Straumann. All three are £300 per implant. The dentist recommends one for your case and it is written on your plan and in your implant passport.
What are Turkish teeth?
In the UK the phrase usually means a full set of crowns or veneers done in Turkey, sometimes on healthy teeth that were cut down more than needed. We prefer to keep healthy teeth and will tell you if fewer crowns, veneers or bonding would do. See Turkish teeth.
What guarantee do I get?
In writing: lifetime on implants with abutment (a failed implant is replaced once free), crowns, bridges and smile makeovers five years, laminate veneers three years, whitening one year. Conditions are in the written terms. See our guarantee.
What if something fails when I am home?
Send photos to your coordinator on WhatsApp and one of our dentists will look and advise. Repairs covered by the guarantee happen at the clinic in Antalya; the flights are yours to book, while the hotel for the treatment days and the transfers are arranged by us.
Can my NHS or private dentist in the UK look after me afterwards?
Yes, and you should keep seeing them for check-ups and cleaning. Take your records and implant passport so they can see exactly what was done. Regular check-ups are also one of the guarantee conditions.
How do I pay?
You do not pay anything to receive your plan. Your coordinator explains how payment works for your visit and which methods are accepted before you book flights. You only pay for treatment you have agreed in writing.
Do I need special travel insurance?
Ordinary travel insurance often excludes planned medical or dental treatment abroad. Read your policy, ask your insurer, and think about cover that includes complications of treatment. GOV.UK has guidance on travel insurance.
Is there an age limit?
There is no upper age limit for most treatment. Your general health, bone and medicines matter more than your age, which is why we ask for your medical history first. Implants are only placed once the jaw has finished growing, so they are for adults.
Can I have treatment if I have diabetes or take blood thinners?
In many cases, yes. Let us know before you travel. The dentist may ask for details from your GP and will plan the treatment around your health. Some conditions mean waiting, or choosing a different treatment.
Who will treat me?
One of our named dentists. Implant surgery is carried out by Dt. Hüseyin Yavuz Özbek. You can read about each of them on our dentists page.
Can someone come with me?
Yes. Tell your coordinator so the room and transfers are arranged for two. If you are having sedation, a companion is needed.
