Implant bridge in Turkey: a row of teeth on fewer implants

When three or four teeth in a row are missing, you do not always need an implant for each one. A fixed bridge can span the gap on two or more implants.

Short answer

An implant bridge replaces several missing teeth in a row with a fixed zirconia bridge held by two or more implants, so you have fewer implants than teeth. At our Turkish dental clinic it takes two trips, because the implants need to heal before the final bridge is made. The price is built from £300 per implant plus £150 per zirconia tooth, and your written plan gives the final count.

An implant bridge is one of the most practical treatments we offer at our Turkish dental clinic in Antalya, and one of the least talked about. If you have lost three or four teeth side by side, the usual assumption is that you need an implant for every tooth. Often you do not. Two well-placed implants can hold a fixed bridge of three teeth, and three implants can carry four or more. This page explains how that works, how it compares with the alternatives, what the two trips involve and how the price is put together.

What an implant bridge is

A dental implant is a small titanium screw placed in the jawbone, where it acts as a root. Normally one implant carries one crown. An implant bridge uses the implants as pillars instead. A single piece of zirconia, shaped like a row of teeth, is fixed on top of them. The teeth that sit over an implant are supported directly, and the teeth in between, called pontics, rest on the gum and are held by the pieces either side.

The result looks and feels like a row of fixed teeth. You do not take it out. You brush it like your own teeth and clean underneath it with small brushes or floss threaders.

The key difference from an ordinary bridge is what holds it. A conventional bridge is fixed to natural teeth, which have to be cut down for crowns. An implant bridge leaves your own teeth alone. If the teeth beside the gap are healthy, that matters a great deal.

Implant bridge, single implants or a partial denture?

There are three common ways to replace a row of missing teeth. None is right for everyone, so here is how they compare.

Main drawbackA problem with one implant affects the whole bridgeHighest cost and most surgeryCan move, clasps may show, less chewing force

Single implants are the gold standard when bone allows and the budget stretches, because each tooth is independent and easy to clean. A partial denture avoids surgery and costs less, but many people find it loose and tiring to live with. The implant bridge sits between them: fixed teeth with fewer implants. A long-term review of implant-supported bridges found high survival over five years and more, with technical problems such as chipping of the ceramic and loosening of screws among the more common issues. That is why we design the bridge in solid zirconia and check the bite carefully.

Who an implant bridge suits, and who it does not

  • three or more missing teeth next to each other, in either jaw
  • healthy teeth beside the gap that you would rather not have crowned
  • enough bone at the planned implant sites, or bone that can be built up
  • people who have tried a partial denture and want something fixed

It is not a good choice for everyone. Heavy smokers and people with poorly controlled diabetes have a higher risk of implant problems, and we will discuss that openly. Untreated gum disease must be dealt with first, or the same infection can attack the implants. If only one tooth is missing, a single implant or a tooth-supported bridge makes more sense. If most teeth in a jaw are failing, a full-arch option such as full mouth implants may be the more honest plan. Very long gaps sometimes need an extra implant in the middle, which the 3D scan will show.

How we plan it

Planning starts before you travel. You send a recent panoramic X-ray (OPG) or clear photos by WhatsApp or the form, and a dentist replies with a written, itemised treatment plan. At the clinic we take a 3D scan, which shows the height and width of the bone and the position of nerves and sinuses. Our implant surgeon, Dt. Hüseyin Yavuz Özbek, then confirms how many implants are needed, where they go, which brand will be used and why. You get that in writing before anything starts.

We use MegaGen, Neodent or Straumann implants, at the same price. Every implant patient receives an implant passport and copies of their X-rays and scans, which is useful for any dentist who sees you later at home. If extractions are needed first, they are free.

The two trips, step by step

  1. Written plan from home. Send your X-ray or photos. A dentist reviews them and sends an itemised plan. There is nothing to pay at this stage.
  2. First trip: scan and surgery. Examination, 3D scan and the final plan in writing. Under local anaesthetic, any failing teeth are removed and the implants are placed. The package includes 4 hotel nights.
  3. Healing at home. The implants bond with the bone over the following months. This usually takes around three to six months, depending on the jaw, the bone and any grafting. Your plan gives the expected gap.
  4. Second trip: the bridge. The implants are checked, a scan is taken and the zirconia bridge is designed, tried in and fixed. The bite is adjusted across the whole mouth. The package includes 5 hotel nights.
  5. Aftercare. You are shown how to clean under the bridge and given written aftercare and your implant passport.

Airport and clinic transfers are included on both trips. Flights are not. More practical detail is on your trip.

Risks and honest limits

  • Linked teeth. Because the teeth are joined, a problem with one implant affects the whole bridge.
  • Cleaning takes care. Plaque collects under the pontics. Without daily cleaning, the gum around the implants can become inflamed, a condition called peri-implantitis.
  • Surgery has normal risks. Swelling, bruising and discomfort for a few days are common. Rarely an implant does not bond with the bone and has to be replaced.
  • Grinding. Clenching and grinding put heavy loads on bridges. If you grind, you will need a night guard.
  • Bone shrinks under pontics. Where there is no implant, the bone can slowly thin, which can leave a small space under the false tooth over the years.

What it costs

An implant bridge has no single fixed price, because it depends on how many implants and how many teeth you need. It is built from two parts, both shown in your plan.

ItemOur price
Dental implant (MegaGen, Neodent or Straumann)£300 per implant
Zirconia tooth in the bridge£150 per tooth
Bone graft, if needed£150 per 1cc
Sinus lift, if needed£350 per procedure
ExtractionsFree

So a bridge of three teeth on two implants would be two implants plus three zirconia units. The final count, and any other parts your case needs, comes in the written plan after the dentist has seen your X-ray and, finally, your 3D scan. Full figures are on our prices page.

Guarantee

The implants, with their abutments, carry a lifetime written guarantee: a failed implant is replaced once free of charge. The bridge itself has a 5-year written guarantee. Conditions apply, such as regular check-ups and a night guard for grinders, and they are set out in the written terms. Read our guarantee page for the details.

Why patients choose this

What this means for you

01

Fewer operations

Two implants can often carry three teeth, and three implants four or more, so there is less surgery than one implant per tooth.

02

Natural teeth left alone

The bridge is held by implants only. The healthy teeth either side of the gap are not cut down for crowns.

03

Fixed, not removable

Unlike a partial denture, an implant bridge stays in. There are no clasps and nothing to take out at night.

04

Planned on a 3D scan

The dentist checks bone height and width on the scan and tells you in writing how many implants, which brand and why.

FAQ

Common questions

How many implants do I need for three missing teeth?

Often two, one at each end of the gap, with a false tooth in the middle. Bone, bite and the length of the gap decide it. The dentist confirms the number after the 3D scan, and it is written in your plan.

Is an implant bridge cheaper than single implants?

Usually, because you pay for fewer implants. You still pay for every tooth in the bridge at £150 per zirconia unit. Your plan lists both so you can compare.

Will I have a gap between the two trips?

In most cases you leave the first trip with a temporary option so you are not without teeth in a visible area. What is suitable depends on where the gap is; the dentist explains this before surgery.

Which implant brands do you use?

MegaGen, Neodent or Straumann, all at £300 per implant. You receive an implant passport that records the brand and size. See dental implants.

What if I do not have enough bone?

A bone graft or sinus lift may be needed first, priced at £150 per 1cc and £350 per procedure. This can lengthen the healing time between trips.

Can an implant bridge be repaired?

Yes. Bridges on implants are usually screwed or cemented to abutments, and a chipped or worn bridge can be remade without disturbing the implants in most cases.
